Map Settings
These maps were created mainly with Pfhorte. I also used Mia along the way too. Object placement was done With OPE.

Both maps are designed for network play (8 player recomended); but they can be played solo or co-operative (co-operative, yeah, I play that all the time)

What's the difference between the two maps?
Both are identical except Altitude Vacuum is set to vacuum. That means you have to run to the Oxygen machine once in a while. It also means you can only use the .44 Magnum, the Plasma Pistol and the Alien gun. (That is, unless you have some special physics model.)

Map Info
The map consists of 4 towers, several passages connecting them and two detached rooms. The passages between the towers are named after the Marathon's AIs. I suppose you're going to say, "But there is no fourth AI named Bach!" Well, there is.

Vacuum vs. Normal
Why is vacuum better, you ask? Well, it adds more strategy to the game. Instead of just running around with a Spanker, you have to do cool stuff. For example you have to come back to the oxygen machines. So all you have to do, is trap players, and watch them suffocate. Or wait at the oxygen-machines. It also adds to the map. In vaccum, no one can just hide and wait. They'll all come running back.

You also are limited to 3 weapons. I don't know if that's good or bad, but it seems a good idea.

If you just want the shoot-everything-that-moves game, use the Normal map.

Object placement
I suck at object placement. That's why the entire level is littered with ammo. If you want, you can mess around with the placement. Or you can leave it as is. And if you're playing a vacuum map, it will all just drive you crazy, not being able to use it.

There are also no monsters. Why? Because this is a network game. This is about hunting down your friends, not your enemies. If you want the Pfhor there, put them in yourself.

Pointers
First of all, to get anywhere, you will have to hit that switch at the bottom of each tower. That will get you moving upwards. From the platform, you can jump off to anything you pass by. This platform won't kill you, but others might.

The passages connecting the 4 towers named after the AIs are special. if you are on one, and you see another player across the tower, just hit the switch on the wall and

SPLAT!

A platform comes up and smashes them agaist the ceiling. Just watch your back, the guy across the tower can do that too.

In the Millennium room, standing in the area labeled Shields up! will raise a platform wall around you. That should give you some time to re-load, etc. However the guy on the ledge behind you can still get you. If there is some poor fellow standing on the 'shields' when they activate, he is as good as dead.

There is a secret room, but it won't get you ammo, salvation, double the speed of your computer or get you a date. It might get you killed though. So start taking those biohazard signs seriously.

Other Maps by me
marathon-funny-map.hqx (I think it's really funny, but since I only got 2 responses, I guess I am the only one that gets it. It's available at AMUG.)

Thanks to:
Bungie for making Marathon.
Steve Israelson for Pfhorte. Without Pfhorte, there would be no map.
Eric Bennett for OPE.
Dan Walkowski for Mia, the second in command editor.
All those people that contributed to the world of Marathon.
The people at #marathon for their help and answers.
And Gene Roddenberry for Star Trek. B-)
He's not really dead, as long as we all remember him.

The End
If you want to contact me about the map, send mail to kirill@lava.net. I am Bach on IRC #marathon. I woul apreciate any feedback. I want to make more maps, but if I am not good at it, please tell me. If you got marathon-funny-map.hqx and want to send me mail, send it to kirill@lava.net, not the address mentioned there.

Have fun,
Bach

PS: Check out Toccata and Fugue in D minor [BWV 656] by J.S. Bach. Find it at a music store in the Classical Music section. It's really good.
